Cross-Vertical Strategy

Portfolio management, research translation, and systems leverage as parallel channels, not sequential career stages.

One identity, multiple execution modes

The role is not a pivot away from portfolio management toward distribution. It is the formalization of work that was always integrated: steward capital, produce research, translate it for clients, and build the systems that make the translation scalable.

Research, systems architecture, and commercialization share the same underlying structure: hypothesis, design, implementation, validation. Moving between them does not require a role change. It requires the same discipline applied to different outputs.

Three parallel channels

  • Portfolio stewardship produces accountability, live mandate experience, and credibility with allocators.
  • Research produces signal, framework, and narrative. Output: papers, memoranda, client-facing communication.
  • Systems produce leverage. Output: platforms, workflows, reproducibility.
  • Distribution produces reach. Output: client dialogue, consultant engagement, targeted outreach.

These are not sequential stages. Capability in one increases the return on the others.

Data-driven distribution

The issue is not whether AI makes sales workflows faster. The issue is whether distribution can run on the same observable infrastructure as research.

In that model, research surfaces opportunities in the manager and allocator universe. Conversations reveal interest. Prepared artifacts follow immediately. Pain points in external data map to the consultants and asset owners most likely to care. That is a different design problem than automating email drafts.

Working across tool changes

The tools have changed twice already: middleware and distributed systems during the CTO years, then factor models and portfolio construction during the quant years, now LLM-based agents and data infrastructure. Each shift required redesigning the system around a new tool set rather than learning an adjacent specialty. That pattern carries forward.

Doing idea, implementation, and client delivery in sequence without handoffs removes a translation step other structures require. That reduces latency and preserves consistency.

Operating sequence

Research → Architecture → Commercialization → Institutional Leverage, with portfolio stewardship running in parallel throughout.
